Our team is able to educate each other on the products, and this creates a mutual understanding of each product. An example of this is through our Associate program, where the mentors will spend the first few weeks educating the mentee about the products, especially the products they find themselves often using. After the first few weeks, the mentor will have the mentee explain each product and what it is being used for. This helps the mentee memorize the products, and it helps them be able to educate others easily. Not only do we individually teach our team, but we also have a quarterly class hosted at the Stache by different product lines that we support. These classes are a great deep dive into the individual products and are a great time for service providers to refine their knowledge of these products. We had the pleasure to attend TTU’s Connecting Cookeville event on August 22nd, which was also the first day back to class at Tennessee Tech! There were so many awesome booths from Eagles Landing, Papa Johns, and several different TTU booths designated to different areas of expertise. We were able to hand out tons of $5 off cards, complimentary braids and line-ups, frisbees, candy, cups, and so much more! We met so many new, lovely tech students and we saw several of you guys that we already know! Events like this are so special to us, and it’s so refreshing to see this amazing community coming together to welcome new and returning students!

First haircuts can be a scary thing! Going to a place you aren’t familiar with, having a person you don’t know putting a cape on you and coming at your head with buzzing clippers or scissors. At My Father’s Mustache, we work hard to ensure your kiddo has the best first haircut ever! We also wanted to pass over some awesome tips and tricks to make your child’s first haircut fast, smooth, and fun for everyone!

Before you even have your child’s first appointment scheduled; there are some awesome steps you can take to help ensure your child feels comfortable. Read the story “I was Brave for my First Haircut,” by Robb Hanlon with your child and let them familiarize themselves with not only the tools being used, but also just the entire process! This story can be found on the free app Haircut Heroes; this is a great resource for kiddos and also has a matching game to match different tools and treats at the barbershop or salon. Another great way to immerse your child into a salon or barbershop is to bring them with you when you or their siblings are getting their haircut. This helps them know that everyone gets their hair cut, and also see that everyone is reacting in a calm manner! Typically the sweet spot for first haircuts is between 12 and 18 months old, during this time children are open to new experiences and less frightened when they are under 2 years old. It also helps to get them on a routine with their haircuts, and they will gain confidence with each and every visit.

The last weekend of June we attended the Redken Symposium in Nashville!

There are several different types of hair shows all around the globe. The main themes in these hair shows are education, trends, and merchandise. The Redken Symposium combines all three of these elements, which is no easy task! The main focus of the Symposium is power education, and we all walked away feeling inspired and ready to tackle all of the new summer trends! We attended eighteen classes within two days, and ALL topics were discussed. We had classes for color, blondes, formulation, cutting, trends, and so so much more! Here at My Father’s Mustache, the best Salon in Cookeville, we value education VERY much. There is always something new to learn, regardless of the walk of life you may be in. On average, we have a class every other month here at My Father’s Mustache. Having our hours as eleven to five on Sundays allows us to have time before and after we are open to host classes for our team! Our last class was Redken’s Social Media Obsessed class, and it’s safe to say we learned SO much. Our Redken class teacher, Tina, took the time to individualize the curriculum for us. This is only one of the reasons we love her teaching our classes.

We started the morning off with breakfast made by our wonderful owner Debbie and her daughter Mattie. While we ate, we listened to some music to get us pumped up for the class and wide awake! To start the class off, Tina began with asking us our struggles that we feel we have with social media. Each person had an individual conflict, some ranging from just not knowing what to post and also some people simply not knowing how to post. Tina broke down each individual struggle and helped us come up with a plan to make things simpler, refined, and coordinated.

On our Bingo board, you will find many services that most likely you are already receiving! These are haircuts, colors, beard shapings, blow dry styles, and straight razor shaves. We also have some that are for the service provider to offer such a beverage or a tour of the salon. Each guest is given the opportunity to look at their Bingo board and decide with their service provider which route they want to take to be entered in the giveaway. We have a silver box at our guest specialist island for each Bingo winner to enter their name on a ticket to be drawn in February!

On December ninth we hosted a Christmas open house for all of our guests, new and returning, and we had an absolute blast getting to see all of the sweet little faces so excited for Christmas!

The highlight of the day was Santa visiting our salon! He took lots of pictures with our Stache kiddos and double checked he knew what to bring them for Christmas this year! We saw so many different reactions to Santa this year, but the consensus was - we all can’t wait to see him on the night of the 24th! We also had a hot cocoa bar with several toppings to make a North Pole approved hot cocoa! We loved getting to help the kiddos pick their toppings as well as some sweet homemade treats. My Father’s Mustache has been and always will be a teaching salon. With that being said - back to school season is one of our favorite times of year! We are the best salon in Cookeville for not only your back to school cut, but also to prepare for the new school year ahead.

Let’s talk about PERMANENT hair color here at Cookeville’s best salon.. Being a Redken Black Level Elite Salon, we use almost exclusively Redken hair colors. One of those specific types of color we’re going to focus on today is COLOR FUSION. Color Fusion is an advanced performance color cream- it is a modern, multi-dimensional permanent color cream featuring exclusive Colorbond Technology to leave hair healthy-looking with intense condition and shine.

So what is “Colorbond Technology” ? For maximum blonding and lightness we typically recommend a full foil. This technique covers the whole head. Full foils, being a form of traditional highlights, are applied directly to the scalp, so salon visits for routine maintenance will be more frequent. We recommend every 6-8 weeks depending on your hair growth and individual needs.

DIMENSIONAL/ PARTIAL FOIL

For more dimension to your blonding service, we recommend a dimensional foil (interchangeable with a partial foil). This service typically starts the lightening process about midway up the head just under the ears instead of at the nape. It is a great technique for those wanting a little brightness around the face and roots/part area. Those with gray or *sparkles* in their hair find this a great technique to camouflage the root with a more natural grow out phase.

5. Upon entry, you will be asked to wash your hands with soap and water, and you service provider will be doing the same between appointments.

6. We are frequently sanitizing all high traffic areas.

7. Never hesitate to reschedule an appointment if you are showing symptoms, or feel you may have been exposed. We thank you for your consideration, as the health of our staff and guests is our number one priority!
