Here at My Father’s Mustache, the best salon in Cookeville, we know that an incredible experience is so much more than just the service itself. We strive to provide our guests with the best products to help maintain their look at home - we all know there is no better feeling than leaving the salon and running your hands through your hair. If you feel as though your hair never feels the same as it does when you are leaving the salon, this is because of the products service providers use! We also make it a top priority to teach our team about each individual product; if our team is well educated on our products, then they can pass on the education to all of our guests! The best part about having over 6 different product lines to choose from, is that our recommendations are tailored to each specific guests’ needs.
Our team is able to educate each other on the products, and this creates a mutual understanding of each product. An example of this is through our Associate program, where the mentors will spend the first few weeks educating the mentee about the products, especially the products they find themselves often using. After the first few weeks, the mentor will have the mentee explain each product and what it is being used for. This helps the mentee memorize the products, and it helps them be able to educate others easily. Not only do we individually teach our team, but we also have a quarterly class hosted at the Stache by different product lines that we support. These classes are a great deep dive into the individual products and are a great time for service providers to refine their knowledge of these products. By taking these steps, we ensure that our service providers are as knowledgeable as possible when it comes to the products going in your hair!
We also make an effort to have savings deals for our guests, and we do this through fun games or fun offerings. We have two different types of savings offerings going on at all times, we will always have a “retail” and “service” offering. This way we ensure that everyone is able to have an experience they enjoy, and everyone loves savings! One of our salon favorites is our ‘Texas Hold’em’ game. Each guest draws a card as soon as they enter, and each card has a different value of a discount for products. These cards are then used to build our service providers deck, and whoever has the best poker hand at the end of the week gets a big prize - this year it was concert tickets to local shows in our great city of Cookeville. Another guest favorite was our ‘Bingo’ game. Where each guest was given a bingo card upon arrival and had to get 5 in a row to complete a bingo! The cards were randomized with service and retail savings offerings; and if the guest completed a bingo then their name was entered in a giveaway for $200 cash! A team favorite of ours at My Father’s Mustache is the ‘Trick or Treat Savings’ where we had a witches cauldron filled with three different types of candy. Each candy was either 10, 15, or 20 percent off of retail products. The guests got a sweet deal with a sweet treat! Another popular savings game was our ‘Unlock to Save’ where we had a board with 4 different locks at the guest specialist area, where all of our guests were checked out. There was a cup next to the board with the corresponding keys mixed up; the guest would reach in and select a random key. This key would then be used to unlock either 10, 15, 20, or 25 percent off of retail products.
We are also constantly managing our retail inventory, and every team member plays a part in this. We constantly rotate through and clean our stock of products throughout the week; and inventory is constantly being checked and counted by our managers. We have several large retail displays in our salon company, and we take great pride in them - all the way down to color coordinating the shelves! By keeping our team and guests knowledgeable on the products, we are able to create a more seamless and rewarding experience for our guests.
